A Hidden Goth Tiki Bar Inside Betelgeuse Montrose
Endless Bummer is a goth tiki bar hidden at the end of a sci-fi hallway inside Betelgeuse Betelgeuse, a pizza bar at 4500 Montrose Blvd in Houston. More than 10 local artists built the space. Houston Press named it Best Speakeasy in its Best of Houston 2025.
How to find it
Walk into Betelgeuse Betelgeuse at 4500 Montrose Blvd. Pass the pizza and the rotating art on the walls. Find the sci-fi hallway and keep going. At the end, it gets dark. That's us.
There's no secret password and no reservation. We're walk-in only, Friday and Saturday 6 p.m. to midnight and Sunday 4 to 10 p.m.
Somewhere between death and vacation
Is it a theme bar? No. But if it had a theme, it would be a funeral for a surfer. A goth vacation. An overgrown jungle limbo. Robert Smith visiting Miami in 1982. Psychedelic, tropical, a little black metal.
Is it always this dark in here? Yes. Is it haunted? Only by people who never left.
Built by artists
Endless Bummer was brought to life by more than 10 local artists, curated by lead visual collaborator Neon Thrash (Brian Dibala). Each artist contributed murals, dioramas, objects, and what we call ambient interventions. Together they turned the space into a surreal tropical limbo, a dream you barely remember but can't stop thinking about.
It's built to be immersive: part dream, part dive, part art installation. Lights shift, rumors circulate, and some things are meant to be touched. Nothing stays the same for long. Meet the artists on the artist credits page.
The drinks match the room
The menu is classic vacation drinks reimagined through our lens, and it changes with the seasons. Right now that means the Haunted Luau, our Halloween menu:
- Tiki Chainsaw Massacre ($16): Jamaican and overproof rums, pineapple, lime, gochujang syrup, bloody chamoy, pineapple frond.
- Blood Moon Sacrifice ($15): blanco tequila, Ancho Reyes, blood orange, grapefruit, lime, chamoy, black salt.
- Lured to Death ($15): gin, orange liqueur, mango, vanilla, lemon, grenadine, mango vanilla foam, orchid.
The Black Sun Volcano is jet black from activated charcoal, comes with fire, and serves three to four people. See the full menu, or learn about our Pistachio Mai Tai.
Before or after
We don't serve food. Betelgeuse's cast iron pizza is steps away. More on the bar itself on our Houston tiki bar page. Want the hidden bar to yourself? Book it for a private event.
