The 12 Hour Tour to the Entheognosis Islands

Similar to the 3-hour tour premise of Gilligan’s Island, where a group of travelers sets sail for a short boat trip but gets sucked into an inescapable and seemingly infinite lost at sea/castaway status, this is a visual metaphor to describe the time dilating sense of travel provided by LSD, Psilocybin, and other entheogenic molecules. In this table we find our protagonist locked in a DEEP feedback loop of self-reflective, panicked euphoria, paranoid ecstasy, and rapturous disembodiment, He is experiencing this in the setting of a heavily charged paranormal zone of Island of the Dolls (Isla de las Muñecas) in Mexico. He has no idea how long he has been here or if there is even a “back” to get back to.

Quasi-scientist and self-taught artist, Patrick Turk explores the mysteries of the universe in his highly detailed and imaginative hand-cut paper assemblages. Images taken from any number of resources including: science-fiction novels, encyclopedias, history and scientific diagrams, are cut and assembled in oftentimes multidimensional surfaces to create curious and dark narratives. Says Turk, “The intense levels of detail become a microcosm, forming a reflection of the human relationship to the plasticity of time and space, and to the process of self-unfolding.”
